We frequently get asked how you should go about creating your own armature to scale. Here is our step by step guide to doing so. The armature has been made with a Ray Harryhausen Armacreature kit:
1.Design your character. Here is a rough sketch of a security guard character we are using on a short film.

2. Produce a scale drawing including a turn around image so you know what it looks like from all sides. We coloured our version up in Photoshop to give us an idea of the finished character.

3. From your scale drawing trace an outline. The outline drawing can then be used to make your armature to the correct scale and proportions (and also gives you an idea if everything will fit!).

In this case we have placed in scale armature joints but you can simply place the actual joints onto the outline sketch and draw around them.
